Cross-Posting Without Being Lazy About It

Cross-posting multiplies output without multiplying work — done lazily, it multiplies mediocrity instead. The rule that separates the two: repurpose the idea, repackage for the platform.

The hub-and-spokes model

Make the fullest version once (often long-form video or a stream), then translate: clips for the short feeds, a thread of the key insight for text platforms, stills or carousels for visual ones, the announcement for your Telegram or Discord.

Translation, not duplication

  • Re-hook every clip — the long-form intro is never the short-form hook.
  • Native captions, covers and aspect ratios per platform; visible watermarks from a rival app can suppress distribution.
  • Text platforms want the insight itself, not a link telling people to leave.

What refuses to transfer

Inside jokes with stream chat, context-dependent commentary, and anything whose value was liveness. Repurpose outcomes and insights, not atmosphere.

Measure the spokes

After a month, check which platform converts repurposed content into followers — one metric per platform (the system in the growth tracking guide) — and let the winners earn more custom effort. The three-feed behaviour of short video specifically is mapped in Shorts vs Reels vs TikTok.
